Mi Amores!

Oh, how I have missed all of you! First off, wishing everyone a very happy and blessed new year! Second, I hope everyone is safe and sound from this insane blizzard we just had Inshallah (God Willing), and third I want to apologize for not posting as much 😦 I have been extremely busy with other projects (which I will be sharing with you all soon) so hopefully it will make it all up ❤

OKAY! Who else has gained 390598469486389568036 pounds from being snowed in with junk food for the past 4 days?! Literally! The last time a blizzard like this had occurred was in 2010, goodness. It’s funny because, my family and I didn’t really make a big deal out of it thinking “Oh, it wont’ even snow…” Boy, were we ALL wrong haha. Thankfully we had got our groceries done (which again we thought wouldn’t be a big deal), but on Friday when the blizzard began my mom and I were like “ummm… I think we should get some candles and batteries…”

Of course, when we arrived to the store EVERY.SINGLE.AISLE. was wiped out, gone, zero! We both stood there laughing. There were no batteries, no candles, no shovels, no dairy products everything was gone. I’m laughing while typing this, it was hysterical. Luckily we got some groceries but still. I cannot express how beautiful the snow looked while falling down to the ground, it was so serene. I love, love, love, snow. Many were complaining, but I enjoyed the moment ❤ Yes. I enjoyed that 2 ft. of snow…

I was so prepared, that I had a list of things I wanted to bake and cook (which I did). I have been so busy with work, that staying home and cooking is what I missed the most ❤ And of course my family enjoyed it as well. Before the blizzard got worse, I had my wonderful photo shoot! I have always wanted a “winter wonderland” photo shoot for a blog post, and luckily I got it good (thanks to my brother) Alhamdulilah (Thank you God).

Now the after math of this snow is a pain…streets are horribly slippery. Cars are sinking in under the snow, our entire neighborhood since yesterday have been helping each other out to get cars out and its impossible! So whoever is having car trouble, good luck to you I totally feel your pain because mine is still stuck! I went to shovel it out yesterday and I just ended up rolling around in the snow with my little brother and building a mini “glow in the dark” snow man. Haha.

But on a happy note, please feel free to share your stories with me in the comment box below about your “Snow Storm Jonas” experience, cooking, baking, shoveling whatever it may be! I would love to hear it ❤

I know, I know. Many of you are thinking “Oh my God…she’s wearing WHITE?!” Yes my pretties…I am. I have had this authentic fur vest & hat for SO long that it was worth wearing for this shoot. My obsession with fur is endless. What do you ladies think?

EID Al-Adha Look

EID-Al-Adha Look

Mi Amores! I hope you all are doing well and enjoyed a wonderful Eid Inshallah (God Willing). This is going to be a post on what I wore for Eid and how I styled this look. As mentioned in previous posts, I always design my own outfits. I started on a design for Eid, but I could not finish it due to some work (it’s ok, I can save it for an event).

This Eid I decided to do something…different. I have a “unique” sense of fashion which I am known for (main reason for my passion for fashion). I planned my outfit the day of Eid, literally. I mentioned in my last post that’s what you can do if you get caught up with school or work don’t panic just walk into your closet (or your sisters or your brothers) and get an outfit together!

So, I went into my brothers closet (yup, that’s right) and he had received a gift from one of his friends which he had NEVER EVER touched. Of course my brother did not know I was going through his closet, but eventually saw (muahaha). The coat I wore is called a “Chapan” also known as a “Coat”. Beautifully handmade, of rich fabric and colors. It is of Afghan culture, so I accessorized the coat with the authentic Afghan jewelry I own. This was something new I tried, but hey that’s the whole point in fashion 😉

Let me tell you ladies one thing, always be proud of who you are. Wear, think, do what makes you happy people are going to say useless things anyway! Do not ever hesitate to express yourself through different styles, take it from me 😉 So just enjoy your life, and fashion on ❤

What do you ladies think of this look? Would you wear something similar? Yes? No?  I would love to hear your feedback.

Much love always,

Nelo .A. ❤

EID Look #3

EID Al-Adha 2015 Look #3

Still haven’t found the perfect Eid look? Or last minute Eid Shopping? Don’t worry!

Eid is for 3 days, and with school and work it can get hectic. But putting together a last minute Eid outfit, without leaving home you can literally just run into your closet right now and put a look together in a heart beat!

So why don’t you get yourself up, walk on over to your closet and start playing with whatever you have. Mix and match looks, play with colors, just use your sense of fashion. In no time, you will have mastered a quick last minute Eid look without any worries. Then wear it to wherever you have to go tonight 😉

This is exactly what I did for this look, just to show you ladies that you don’t ALWAYS have to go shopping or panic for an  Eid outfit (especially for those who go to work/school). I played around with the shawl (again) just so you can style it how you please, OR just wear the dress itself!

This is the full and final look ladies! I hope you all enjoyed Eid-Al-Adha’s Look Book which was (obviously) Fall inspired. Inshallah until next year!

Wishing all of you a blessed Eid, May Allah make us have many more Inshallah (God Willing) Ameen ❤ ❤ ❤

EID Look #1

EID Al-Adha 2015 Look #1

First off, I would like to say to those who have gone to perform Hajj (The Holy Pilgrimage to Makkah) this year to have an amazing spiritual journey. May Allah (God) accept every act of worship performed, and may they all return safely to their loved ones Ameen. To those who lost their lives due to the accident, May Allah (God) accept their Hajj and forgive them Ameen.

To my “Non-Muslim” readers, I will explain “Hajj” and “Eid Al Adha” in a different post so stay tuned ❤ As for the rest of you, who has begun Eid shopping? OR last minute Eid shopping I should say…(I’m one of them). I have mentioned before, I usually just design mine the night before (I’m a procrastinating Queen..).

Well then! I know many of you have been eagerly waiting for these looks because I had mentioned on my Instagram ( @fashion.with.nelo) that these looks are going to be “Fall Inspired” and I.LOVE.FALL.

Seriously, you ladies have no idea my love for this time of year…you just don’t.  If I could marry Fall, I would. Crisp cool fall air, warm drinks, darker makeup looks, boots, fringe, layering, gorgeous fall scenery & fall activities! Since the weather is still a bit warm (not too warm thank God) layering up is no problem 😉 Hijabistas…you definitely know what I’m talking about ❤

Here is Eid Look #1 mi amores! I have a thing for suspenders/overalls/jumpsuits/rompers. I never like “over” dressing, I like to keep it classy and chic. Having a proper balance to an outfit can make ANY outfit look amazing, so just play around and use fashion sense. Hijab is from “The Hijab Vault” (one of my FAV hijab companies). Lip color is MAISON from NYX MATTE Lipsticks (perfect for the Fall). As for more details on lippies, accessories they are posted in my previous posts ❤

I had so much fun shooting for this Look Book (as you will see) because… ITS FALL! Feel free to leave feedback and what else you all would like to see ❤

As Summer ends…

As summer is coming to an end (even though its September the weather is still humid), I am pretty sure all of you are trying to make the most of it especially since it is Labor Day weekend. Well, I have never liked Summer and never enjoyed it. I love the Fall and Winter, those are my seasons to dress up and enjoy the moments. Personally, I find more fun activities during the Fall/Winter rather than Summer… that’s also probably because I do not like beaches? Isn’t summer all about beaches? Unless you’re traveling the world now that is a DIFFERENT story 😉

My girlfriends and I planned a day at the National Harbor, A) the weather was perfect B) 2 of them are visiting from out of the country (they moved after they got married) and C) to eat (I’m all about food…). We started the afternoon with “Elevation Burger”, highly recommended (P.S. they serve HALAL meat) so eating there was not a problem at all! Grubbed on some burgers and fries, and burned it off after all the walking we did afterwards. The National Harbor is a very nice and family oriented area to visit, there is a strip of restaurants from seafoods to fast foods its all there.

If the weather is nice you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful waterfront view, and if its a hot and humid day you can walk on over to the Gaylord. A very exquisite place with some more restaurants, a walking area, indoor and outdoor views of the Harbor and a fun water show to watch. For all of my international viewers and followers if you ever visit the DMV area, make sure to visit here as well. There are activities not only in the Summer but also in the Winter ( I love it in the winter better, obviously).

I hope you ladies enjoy this post, and for those who do live in the area and have not visited yet do have one! Enjoy the rest of your Labor Day weekend mi amores!

Much love always,

Nelo .A.

Birthday Surprise {08.20.15}

Hello Mi Amores!

Even though it has been 4 days, but Haaaappppyyyyy Bbbbiiiirrrrtttthhhhddddaaayyyyy to me! A huge thanks for those who emailed me and sent me messages on Instagram (@fashion.with.nelo) for the birthday wishes ❤

For those of you who know me VERY well, I absolutely love throwing any sort of party or get-together for my family and loved ones. I don’t know what it is, but I usually make a big deal out of birthdays for those who I love. Just seeing them happy on the day they were born, gives me so much happiness to see them happy and surprised I feel as if I have accomplished something very special for them.

Now moving onto myself I could careless about my birthday (sounds odd right?). The last time I ever put the effort to throw a birthday party was when I turned 18 (a VERY long time ago). Which was a wonderful party and blessed to have it. After that, now this is funny Ramadan ended up being on my birthday for the next few years (LOL). Even though I did try to have a gathering, it never worked. So I guess thats what just stopped me from caring (not complaining!).

So, I love surprises. In my life I have been surprised very little here and there, but never on my birthday which I have always wanted haha. So last year I was surprised for the very FIRST time on the day of my birthday (finally right? jk). I really, had no idea what was going on because at the same time (I wont say friend because she isn’t) it was my sisters wedding week and I was a bridesmaid.

So we were all focused on the wedding, running here and there you know the drill. It was a normal day for me, that whole week we met at her house to finish last minute things. That day she had decided to make it a “fun” day and go to a trampoline park. She also had messaged me to bring an “extra pair of clothes” because afterwards we were going to go out for a “girls night” dinner.

We had a great time at the trampoline park, and that day my sisters didn’t wish me so I was kind of upset (I am emotional like that). We all came back to her place, freshened up and left for dinner. For some odd reason my friend forced me to go with her sister (it was part of the plan which later made sense). As we made it to dinner, her sister kept stalling and making us go the longest way to the restaurant (later I found out because my friend was in front of us with massive balloons so she had to stall and I can’t believe I didn’t notice)

We walk in to a very elegant Italian restaurant, lights were very dim so could barely see anyone or anything. As the waitress is about to take us to our seats, all of a sudden I hear “SURPRIIIIIIIIIIISE”. I got SO confused, and reacted very slowly (LOL). The table was filled my dear friends, and my sisters! I looked at my sisters and said “this is why you didn’t say anything to me! I was so pissed at you guys!”. Then of course, I got emotional and shed some tears because it was the BEST birthday surprise ever. It was all planned by my sisters and friend who was getting married, even though she was so stressed she took the time to plan this together.

It was such an amazing evening, a moment that will never ever leave my heart. Now this year, AGAIN as I planned to have a gathering it did not work out…eh. So what happens? I get a birthday call from my sister (same friend) saying “be ready at 12pm tomorrow I am going to pick you up!”. Of course I said no, but again I had no choice. So she comes and “kidnaps” me and literally SPOILED the hell out of me (I freaking love you). We had an amazing lunch by the waterfront, in which we both tried fresh, organic sea food. It was D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S.

The weather was beautiful so we spent half of the day walking around and chit chatting about the most weirdest things (as always). There was a “Mr.GoodHumor” who went all out with his look and gave us free ice-cream ❤ Later on in the evening she then took me to a sophisticated place for dessert, her sister and another friend we both know joined (she informed them) she knows how much I love crepes and they had the best.

Her being the sneaky girl she is, told the staff it was my birthday so they came out singing with a delicious strawberry cheesecake. So we ate, talked, laughed, throughout the night. I kept telling her how thankful I am to have her in my life and vice versa. And thanks to her I have a birthday post to share with you all! I kept wondering what I would post for my birthday, and boom! I always pray this bond stays close, forever Inshallah (God Willing). Thank you for such a memorable day mi amore.

I never share personal things, but this post had to be shared. Having a special bond with someone needs to last a lifetime, and I am sure many of us have a few or have lost a few. A relationship works both ways, not one. Always be humble, you never know how a small act of kindness can give so much happiness to someone. Now I have a second birthday surprise to remember. I was having too much fun, that I barely focused on my ootd images! I just wanted to be comfy ❤

Much, Much Love!

Unique Hijabs

I believe the title of this post has already got your attention, correct? Because it sure caught mine when I was informed about this company! Fashion & Hijabs, a girl can never ever get enough. Who else strongly agrees? In this post I will be sharing another Hijab company and 2 different Hijabs and styles.

For a Hijabi (A girl who wears the headscarf) having multiple, comfortable, functional, matching, elegant and unique Hijabs is a MUST. Just like how during Fall and Winter we bundle ourselves up and change our wardrobe, that is what a Hijabi does with her hijabs. I mean literally!

Unique Hijabs is a fashion forward, online boutique that offers variety of Hijabs. This company has been in business from 2004, and has been blooming ever since. The sweet owner of this company had contacted me asking me what kind of hijabs I like and colors. She also offered me to visit the website and pick any Hijab.

I found that so difficult to do…you never give a girl the choice to “pick what you like”. Because she will take it all and that was my problem. It took me FOREVER to decide on what I wanted, I wanted all of them! I had messaged the owner back, telling her “you have placed me in a very difficult situation, because it is taking me forever! So please just send me what you wish”

I then gave her my top (I think) 10? Maybe more than that…hahahaha. Ladies, the name “UNIQUE” Hijabs is no joke. They are LITERALLY UNIQUE. I cannot express how beautiful each and every design detail is on each Hijab. The collections range from Jersey to silk to elegant florals for the summer time.

I received my package, and I felt like a little kid. The company had sent me a couple of hijabs from different collections they offer. I hope you ladies enjoy these looks and Hijabs because I surely did. I personally am all about being unique, that is my design inspiration. Being typical or basic is just not me and these Hijabs are what I was missing from my life and HIGHLY recommend for those of you who are looking for “the” Hijab.

I really hope you ladies enjoy these looks, they are 2 DIFFERENT Hijabs and 2 DIFFERENT looks. I have received tremendous compliments on these Hijabs, what more can a girl ask for?

Nelo .A.

Unique Hijabs: // //

“70/26”, Very light weight, very wrinkle resistant, comfortable, drapes beautifully, do not have to worry about Hijab slipping off, many other colors are available. I have never owned nor worn a Jersey Hijab and I am in love! I went for a “boho” look here. I have done 3 different Hijab looks, which one is your favorite?

“70/53”, light-weight, drapes beautifully, very wide, comfortable, many colors are available, many hijab styles can be done with this Hijab. I draped it, showing the white around my head and side. I went for a “street” look here. What do you ladies think? (P.S. I have never done this kind of look before…)

Pastel Pink Skinny Jeans: Forever 21. Original price $19.80. As mentioned in one of my previous F.F.F Forever 21 skinny jeans are VERY comfortable, so if you have not purchased a pair please do so.

Summer Kimono-1

I’m back!!! Ahhhh, where to begin?

First off, I apologize for the very late blog posts, I fell very sick for a good few days. Second, THANK YOU to all of you who have emailed me/messaged me asking how I have been, etc. Thank God I am way better, and your emails gave me lots of smiles ❤

I will be posting TWO Kimono (F.F.F.) Looks just for you all!

Without wasting anymore time, lets get into this weeks Fashion Finds!

Fashion Finds:

Floral Print Kimono: Burlington. Sale: $4.99. Kimonos are a style that NEVER go out of fashion. Whether its for the Summer or Winter, they always give a great look.

Boyfriend Jeans: Ross. Original Price $11.99. Since “Boyfriend” jeans are trending very much this year, I decided to get a pair and see what the hype is all about. It took me forever, honestly to find the “right” pair. I pick comfort over anything, and these were perfect.

Turquoise Hand-Beaded Necklace: This was gifted to me from Pakistan. I just accessorized it with this look.

Light-Gold-Shoes: Wet Seal. Original Price $28.80, on sale for $6.99! So, growing up for some odd reason “sneakers” have always looked hideous on me. Always. These are probably my OWNLY pair of sneaker related footwear, and I do not regret it one bit. Beyond comfortable.

Hope you ladies enjoyed this look, and of course you can match any undershirt.

Much Love to you ALL

Nelo .A.

I purposely waited for a couple of days to make this post, because I know everyone was so busy the last few days of Ramadan and preparing for Eid. This post will be explaining what EID is, and how Muslims prepare so…

I pray, that God has accepted all of our fasts and acts of worship in the month of Ramadan and we live to see the next Inshallah (God Willing). As mentioned in the “Ramadan Mubarak” post, I had explained a tiny bit of EID but saved it mainly for this.

EID-Al-Fitr, known as the “Feast of Breaking the Fast” is a religious holiday us Muslims celebrate across the Globe, which marks the end of Ramadan. This celebration lasts for three days, with the first day consisting of a specific prayer. There are 2-units (Rakats) offered in all of the Masjids (Mosques) around the Globe. With that prayer concluded, we then offer greetings to our loved ones saying “EID MUBARAK” aka “Happy EID”. We also offer charity, and more additional prayers.

In the Pakistani Culture, the night before EID they celebrate “Chaand Raat” (night of the moon sighting). It is a huge gathering of families and friends at a local hall or home welcoming EID by mainly women applying Heena designs, buying bangles even last minute EID shopping. For me, if there are no heena on my hands… it’s not EID. This year, the moon sighting was literally sited as one around the globe by Islamic authorities. Whereas, in a few countries it was not sited. EID was on Friday, Saturday and Sunday which was perfect because it was the weekend so EVERYONE enjoyed.

In most house holds homemade cookies, sweets, cakes, anything you can think of is made before EID. Many families have huge EID dinners, or brunches for family and friends. Others also celebrate marriages, or an engagement on this special day. Let’s not forget EID outfits, ahhhh they can be such a hassle to prepare for but thats the fun about it. Men and women, children all dress up so adorably on this day, which I am sure many of you have seen through social media. Speaking of social media, who else was SO happy about the #Mecca_Live and #Eid_Live SnapChat?!

In my family, I love preparing for anything. For EID, I make sure its EID. I go all out with lights outside of the house to the inside of the house. I put up candles, garlands, flowers, you name it! My family is basically spoiled by me, (haha) so its always left to me to do the decor. My mother usually prepares the sweets, but this year I decided to do it as well (red velvet cupcakes, blueberry muffins and rice crispy treats).

We prepare a table of dry fruits, cookies, candies, for our guests who will arrive. I forgot to mention, EID day is not an invitation to ones house its literally house hopping all day long OR one does invite. So we expect unexpected guests which is the excitement of it.

Normally, the first day of EID is being busy with prayers and then we all gather at our uncles place (because he is the oldest). So there is a huge feast there and then the next day is at our home. As mentioned above, its an open house friends and family come over and it feels amazing. The third day is my cousins home. It does feel weird when Ramadan ends, because you eat so early and then fast all day. And then you go from that to, having feasts or tea time during the day and sometimes I would still think I am fasting and if I took a sip of water I would panic and say “Oh my God! My fast!” haha. I am sure many of you can relate.

I really hope, everyone had an amazing EID. Everyday is a blessing, do not take it for granted. Keep living, be happy and smile. Every EID is special, but this EID was just precious. From Ramadan until EID many of us have some personal things, but at the end ALWAYS count your blessings.

How was your EID? What did you do? I would really like to know, since many of you are International readers, please comment and share your tradition with me.

Much Love,

Nelo .A.
