Honeymoon Series

Honeymoon Series

Its Summer time, and ALL of us are defintily in the mood for…
traveling! What I decided to do for you ladies is to put together a
blog series of my Honeymoon around Europe! I know…I know…”oh my
godness! Really?!” Yeah, REALLY. After our wedding we had a good three
months break, overcoming all the wedding madness and then having
Ramadan literally a week after. We (lets be real, me) decided on which locations to visit, cafes, restaurants, famous sight areas, safety cautions, weather conditions,  you name it!
I am very OCD when it comes to planning, I like to be very organized
and do my research way ahead of time so that way no problems occur
(even if they do) I can handle it.

Our Honeymoon consisted of 4 beautiful European countries, in
which we both have never been to (except London) Germany, Greece, Rome
and London. What we decided to do is “country hop” which consisted of 2 days in
each location (arriving in the early AM, having that entire day plus
the next then leaving early in the AM to the next location vice
versa). A little more adventuours for us since we had a good break after our wedding.

Just some quick tips on what I personally did and found very useful to traveling to a new country. Please do your FULL research on the following:

Weather conditions

Society norms

Culture

Currency rates

Dress codes

Weather related outfits

Shoes

Distance

Famous sight-seeing locations

Timings of each location

 Itinerary guide for each location

Special cultural foods

Here are some quick tips on what to pack, my husband was making fun of me and mentioning how “we’re not going to the end of the world, I’m sure such and such will be there”. I definitely did not listen, and I’m glad I did not because it all came in handy :-). Note to all husbands- we always got this.

Camera, chargers, and portable chargers (it’ll make your life so much easier)

Your basic hygiene essentials

Your basic makeup materials.

Medicines, ALL kind you need just incase of an emergency.

Sun screen, sun screen and sun screen!

Comfortable shoes, I cannot express how important that is because I made a mistake there 😦

Plan each outfit (and TRUST ME on this one) depending on the weather. Especially if you’re traveling to VERY hot countries, please pack breathable fabrics, try not to under layer.

Travel as LIGHT as you can, we had one suitcase and 2 backpacks. It was the BEST decision we made. Less hassle at the airport, and quickly getting through security.

Passport holder-this was the most convenient decision ever. Everything was placed organized in one pocket, that way we did not have to panic losing anything important.

I really hope this helps all of you in planning a good trip with any loved one or even
just by yourself! I personally went through SO MUCH research, and I
appreciate those who had listed so much great information about each
country which led me to my own personal experiences. Especially as a Hijabi, I was very worried about how things would go, so I thought to myself I should do this to make it easier as all this information is coming from a Hijabi to all you Hijabis (and non-Hijabis). With that said, let’s begin!

Frankfurt, Germany

Honeymoon Series:

Frankfurt, Germany

Locations Visited:

Iron Bridge, Romerburg, St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral, St. Pauls Church, My Zeil, Palmengarten, Old Opera House

Weather: very nice and breezy, a little warm at points but over all for July it was good.

And so the adventure begins with our first stop…Frankfurt! Mind you all, I was on a plane after a good 5 years so during the 7 hour flight, I was a little nervous. But Alhamdulilah (Thank God) I kept myself together. We arrived to our hotel early in the day time, (it was probably 9am) luckily we were allowed to check-in early. The both of us were so excited to get this trip stared, we freshened up (no nap, no rest, NOTHING) and headed out to explore a new place we both have never been to. We made our way to AmMain, which is basically Central Frankfurt. I had printed and made itineraries for each of our destinations, planned out our days, and locations to eat yeah I’m OCD like that.

The first place on our list to visit was, “Romerburg”. Which is also known as Frankfurt’s “Old Town” and means “Roman Mountain” in German. Back in the day it used to hold trade fairs for the German people, and of course traders. Today, the surrounding is so beautiful due to its architecture, people from all over come to see it. I personally found it straight out of a vintage magazine or a Christmas card! Yeah! That’s how adorable this place was, not too big so we were done pretty quickly. Our next stop on the list was the “Iron Bridge”. The way I had planned the itineraries were how far/close was each place, that way if something was too far, I would replace it with something that was closer and vice versa (major tip ladies saves you a lot of time).

The Iron Bridge was not far at all (it was a 3 minute walk) thanks to Google Maps. So we both decided to sit down and take a little break by a Art museum that we missed (but its okay!). Now this is where my husband, fell asleep while sitting and speaking to me it was the most hilarious moment ever because we were sooooo jet-lagged. We then made our way to the Iron Bridge, and it was a very relaxing view. This bridge was damaged during WW2 but was rebuilt. From what I read, about 10,000 pedestrians cross this bridge daily, and around sunset lovebirds come and add locks to the sides of the bridge or write their names. Now we didn’t add a lock, but we definitely wrote our names <3.

It was about midday and we both were starting to get hungry (of course) now for Frankfurt I didn’t really make a “where to eat” list because when I was researching, it was mentioned how Romerburg had many markets and local cafes in the area, which there were so we went ahead and made our best judgement. We found a halal Vapiano’s (hell yeah). Grubbed away there, and then we wanted some German ice cream and crepes! Our first choice was a fail, we decided to get their famous “Spaghetti Ice-Cream” which was so horrible for the both of us. Not literally spaghetti but the flavor was made in that shape. After that we were a bit hesitant to try the crepes but the cafe looked so busy so we were like eh why not?!

THOSE.CREPES.WERE.SO.DELICIOUS. I wish I had taken note of the cafes name, but there wasn’t one! It was an entire strip in Romerburg of cafes, and each one was so busy! I loved the vibe. After filling in our tummies, my husband wanted to take a nap…I told him there is no way we are going back to the hotel. He was like “no…I’ll nap here”. And that’s exactly what WE did. I let him sleep for 30mins, that’s when my eyes were starting to shut, so I had to quickly wake him up before I passed out LOL. YEAH IT WAS THAT BAD. NOTE: ALWAYS HAVE SOME REST BEFORE RUNNING OUT. After a very good nap, we made our way to “St. Paul’s Church”. It was a very quick stop (I took no pictures because there really wasn’t much to take pictures of). There was a lot of reading about the history of the church etc. So we kinda zoomed out of there and head towards “St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral”.

This Cathedral is considered Frankfurt’s largest cathedral. The architecture was all Gothic inspired and thats my personal favorite! High sharp ceilings, beautiful interior and very detailed sculptures. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to go up to the dome, because of construction work, but besides that this cathedral was so beautiful. Next on the list was…some shopping! I mean come on, traveling so far…and not shopping? Psht!

“MyZeil” was where it was at, literally. This place was a HUGE, I mean HUGE shopping strip in the heart of Frankfurt. There were street shows, dances, live music, cafes, restaurants, you name it! This was the largest shopping strip in the country. There was also a 8 story shopping mall, which was built in 2009, all designed to have natural light come through all its windows. It was so unique! We chilled there for a bit, and about a 10 minute walk out of there, we hit an alley of Turkish restaurants and cafes! That night, we had Turkish food for the first time, and I wish we could go back and have it again, THATS how delicious it was.

Day two consisted of more of a relaxing day, we weren’t rushing into anything because we only had 2 major places to visit. We had breakfast in a very cute corner cafe, again something we just walked into. We then made our way, by walking to “Palemengarten” one of the largest botanical gardens in Germany. Trust me, they weren’t kidding about it being the largest…we were there for quite sometime! The botanical garden, was so serene. That when we both entered, we stood there and just took it all in, thats how beautiful it was. A very high, indoor Palm house that had a waterfall, exotic plants, benches where you could sit and just enjoy your view. I’m pretty sure there are many more botanical gardens around the globe, but this was so lovely. There were a few garden houses, we went into all of them because why not! Cute vintage little cottages surrounded by acres of flowers. We even spotted a little wedding, it was adorable! As I mentioned before, we were there for a while, because there was so much to see and learn about.

Our last stop of the day was the “Old Opera House”, in which we didn’t make it on time to see (because the garden was SO huge most of our time was spent there and we were unaware of the timing). But it was all good! We had a good look from the outside, then sat down near a fountain and just admired the building. We then headed back towards our hotel, packed up and got ready for our morning flight to our next destination!

My overall experience in Frankfurt was very good, I think it was a good city to explore. Would I decide to go again? I would definitely go to another city in Germany, probably Berlin. I hope this was very useful for you all, feel free to comment and tell me your experience if you’ve been to Frankfurt, I would love to hear!

Much Love ❤

Radiant Pearls

My oh, my! How are my beautiful ladies doing? I hope all of you are well and in good health Inshallah (God Willing). I also hope everyone had an amazing Eid-Al-Adha, and whoever went for Hajj (Holy Pilgrimage) returned safely home to their loved ones Inshallah (God Willing). And lastly…HAPPY FALL.

I know I have been a busy bee for a while, but that’s not an excuse! I am actually so thrilled to share this post with you because it has been QUITE an adventure with this blog post (ladies, you have no idea). BUT! Being the crazy perfectionist that I am, and the insane wind I was dealing with (and rain)..I DID IT.

I believe we have officially entered “Fall” today. That fall crisp air, smell of fresh wood, and that chilly breeze was all there (minus the rain). All I am waiting for is for the trees to finally change colors, because that beauty always strikes me Subhanallah (Glory be to God). With that said, I am honored (again) to say that here is another Collaboration with the most talented HIjab companies ever, The Hijab Souq (Keep it up Fatima).

Here ladies, the Hijab that I am wearing is from the “Radiant Pearls” Collection, in the color “Dark Red”. This piece, has pearls not only on one edge, but all around with a tiny chain detail. The Hijab is VERY wide (which is so helpful to keep a good coverage) and you can literally do any style without being concerned if your back/neck/hair is showing.

I did a simple draped Hijab, but had the pearls hang down my right shoulder so you ladies can see how beautifully it is made. And before you ladies ask me…”what about dark lips?!” I actually decided on a nice neutral tone, to balance it with the Hijab. Otherwise, Fall and Dark lips? Yes please.

I kept my outfit “All Black” ofcourse, because again I did not want to take any attention away from the Hijab. The Hijab is of linen & cotton blend, so totally breathable and comfortable for any season and occasion. This piece also comes in a variety of colors such as nude, yellow, blue, gray, beige, and black! To place your order visit http://www.thehijabsouq.com

Aaaaaand there you have it ladies of another wonderful collaboration, feel free to comment below I would love to hear your feed back as always! Much more to come soon Inshallah (God Willing).

Neutrals & Pearls

Happy Friday Ladies!

My, oh my! I know my last blog post was my “Eid Looks”, and I did not post after that in which I apologize dearly! But if you follow me on Instagram (@fashion.with.nelo) I have been active there…(I know, that’s not an excuse). But I am here now, and back with another…COLLABORATION!

From the title, you ladies guessed it...”Neutrals & Pearls”. Okay, honestly this look was SO difficult for me to handle, because I cannot pull of neutrals *tear*. No matter HOW much I have tried, I just cannot! Some tips ladies?! Nothing wrong in learning some neutral tone tips ahhhhh. Even though during this photo-shoot I did get compliments BUT still (oh the things I do for you ladies ❤ ).

Re-introducing the one and only…The Hijab Souq ❤ Do I really have to tell you ladies (again) on how GREAT their Hijabs are?! Mashallah. The Hijab I am wearing here is the “Beige Pearl Hijab”. This is probably the most Summer friendly Hijab I own, literally. A very breathable-light-weight-cotton fabric, with hand-beaded single pearls attached all along the width of the Hijab.

I always like to keep my Hijab styles very simple, but elegant and thats exactly what I did here. I thought to myself “how can I really show these pearls, but in a different way?” Voila! Looks like a side braid doesn’t it?! I cannot tell you ladies how much I adore it (I love how I’m complimenting myself). But the secret is…it’s not a braid! And guess what…if you ladies REALLY like this Hijab look, I can do my first “official” Hijab tutorial woohoo! Just comment below.

As for my outfit, I did not want to take any attention away from the Hijab so I did a simple white button down top from H&M, gaucho pants from H&M, nude heels from Charlotte Russe, Chanel handbag from Chanel and some of my basic accessories.

And that’s a wrap my loves ❤ Feel free to comment below. To get your own Pearl Hijab and many other Hijabs visit, http://www.thehijabsouq.com

Much, Much Love ❤

Eid Look #3

Eid Al-Fitr Look #3

Hello Ladies ❤

Thank you all so much for your patience in waiting for this post. Alhamdulilah (Thank God) I am feeling much better than before, appreciate the well wishes from all ❤ I also wanted to say, thank you ALL from across the GLOBE for the love and support with my “Eid Look Book”. It honestly gives me so much happiness ❤ ❤ ❤

I promise you it was worth the wait (I personally like this look out of the other 2). Eid Look #3 is my collaboration with the talented “The Hijab Souq”. This Hijab boutique, has a variety of Hijabs and by variety I mean VARIETY Mashallah. From fancy, to casual, to the color you love they have it all! The Hijab I am wearing here is from one of their most popular lines known as the “Royal Lace Hijab” in the color Black. And all of you alreadyyyy know my love with “black and gold”, this Hijab was love at first sight ❤

A very light-weight material, a little close to crinkle but not so much. Perfect for Spring, Summer and even Fall! The gold lace on the end of the Hijab is a good “over exaggerated” amount, I mean who doesn’t love lace?! This Hijab went P.E.R.F.E.C.T.L.Y. (and every other one)  with my “neutral” Eid Look Book this year (I am still surprised I did neutral tones…). The style I did with this hijab is a “hood” look. So you can see the beautiful lace.

The top I am wearing is a beautiful olive but not olive green shade (ladies, when I said I am doing colors I never do, its the truth). I have been eyeballing this top for a WHILE, so when I saw it on sale I grabbed it right away (why not?!) Plus this kind of work and style is from my culture, so thats another reason 😉

It also has a beautiful embroidered back, with florals. Very light-weight and very comfortable. Ofcourse, I paired it with a black under shirt and black tights, and did a nice nude heel to balance the colors out. For accessories (MY FAVORITE) I used the Embroidered Clutch from The Hijab Souq, another elegant piece (mentioned in my other collab with them), gold bangles, my MK watch and both rings are from my trip to the UAE. Lastly, I did a “pop” of red lips to complete the look!

Aaaaand there you have it ladies, the last and final Eid Look of this Look Book! Be sure to take advantage in these last (2-3) nights of Ramadan. May Allah accept all of our fasts and acts of worship Inshallah Ameen! I would love to hear feed back, whether its through email, DM, or comments you all know I always reply! Again, thank you all for the love and support ❤

Take care ladies, and Inshallah next post with be for Eid! And more collaborations to come from The Hijab Souq ❤

Eid Look #1

EID Al-Fitr 2016 Look #1

Happy Weekend!

How are all of my ladies from around the globe doing? How is Ramadan going for all of you? I hope Ramadan is going well and has brought very good changes in the all of you (including me) Inshallah (God Willing). Can you believe we are already in the Last 10 days? Subhanallah (Glory be to God). A week before Ramadan I took out all of my Abayas, ironed them and hung them nicely for Tarawih Prayers. And now, we are at the end of the month.

May Allah accept all of our worship and fasts during the beautiful month and that we live to see the next Inshallah (God Willing) Ameen. It has been a year of my blogging life, and I am so overwhelmed with the love I have received from each and every single one of you. Not only from the States, but from across the world! Thank you all so much. If it wasn’t for the love, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today ❤

Last year I did the “Eid Look Book” and honestly I was kind of hesitant about my looks. Everyones style is different, so thought what the outcome would be. And Alhamdulilah (Thank God) it was very positive. All of my Eid looks were loved by all of you, and this time I am way more confident in sharing more inspirations with you all ❤

I have kept a color scheme for this Look Book. I have worked with all neutral tones. The reason I did so, was because neutrals can go with any skin color, and I have come to realize that. This Summer I pushed myself to wear more nudes/blush tones. And surprisingly, I kind of like it. So for those of you who are worried, don’t be! Trust me, you will look fabulous!

Many of you loved and I mean LOVED the sequins look I did last Eid. So thought why not do something similar but different this year. Again, all neutral tones but added a bit of sparkle to it ❤ I balanced the entire look with a Black Hijab (you can never go wrong with black) and a nice shade lippie. I mixed and matched gold and silver (which I never do) and thats that! What do you ladies think? Feel free to leave comments below! Stay tuned for another look in a few days!

Much Love,

Nelo .A.

Ramadan 101 List

RAMADAN MUBARAK

Oh my goodness…how time flies? It honestly feels as if we JUST ended Ramadan 2015…and we are already in day 2 of Ramadan 2016. To all of my followers, this post is going to be a bit different, more personal lets say. For some reason the thought of writing this post came into my heart, and I just had to post it. It’s about 12:46AM here, many of us have returned from Tarawih prayer, probably going to sleep to wake up for Suhoor or probably even just up until Suhoor (Ah, the beauty of Ramadan Nights).

I welcomed Ramadan a little differently this year…with sweets! I am horrible at baking but oh my goodness to my surprise I am not that bad! I baked homemade “Berry Cream Cheese Puff Pastries” along with “Chocolate Puff Pastries” as well. And alhamdulilah, everyone at home enjoyed it today after their First Iftar ❤ And are still munching on them after Tarawih Prayer (#RamadanNights). Photos are on my Instagram (@fashion.with.nelo) but I will share them below as well.

I wanted to share a small “list” of “to-dos” for you all during this Ramadan. This is my own personal “list” which applies to everyday life as well, but especially during Ramadan. So I thought why not share it with everyone! MANY of these things are very basic, but we often forget. So a small reminder won’t hurt…Either you will gain something from it, or I will gain something from it. Please feel free to add your own “lists” in the comment box below, I would love to add it on to mine ❤

Ramadan 101 List

-Mentally and physically prepare yourself for your Fasts, Prayers, and Duas.

-Ramadan DIYS! Decorate your home, and welcome Ramadan!

-Prepare your Ramadan wardrobe! Just because its Ramadan, it does not mean you have to look “sleep deprived” and “blah”. Look your best! Decent! It may be hard, but just do it!

-Prepare a sincere, loving message to all of your loved ones across the globe, or even next door. Send them this message, wishing them a Blessed Ramadan. Trust me, It will bring a huge smile on their faces and its plus points for you. DO NOT worry if they do not reply, you did your part!

-Prepare a list for your Duas, we are human and we may forget. And what is better than to ask in this Month of Mercy, Blessings and Forgivness.

-Make a list of positive changes you want to have accomplished during this month BUT carry it with you forever. For example: Learning the 99 names of Allah with its meaning. Or memorizing some Surahs, OR finishing the Quran with Tafseer. And applying all these into your every day lives ❤

-Always have Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah) on your lips.

-Always say your Duas, you never know when they can be answered. One major thing for Duas…Make them very sincerely. Know that only He will answer them, and only He will help you in any situation you are in Inshallah.

-Help your mother around the house. Please. It doesn’t matter if you have been at work all day etc. Come home, change, and prepare Iftar for the family. Ladies and gents both! You are not the only one fasting, everyone else is as well. Put in your share! Plus…you get ALOT of goodness out of it 😉

-Stay hydrated and Stay healthy! Do not over stuff yourself with food (this is from personal experience in the past). Ladies, I couldn’t go into Ruku during Tarawih Prayer…I was taking deep breaths and after that until this day I eat very…humbly lol. Another major thing to control.

-Stay organized! Don’t be lazy, have that room or house of your ALWAYS neat and tidy!

-Keep up with your prayers and reading the Quran. Ramadan is not only about Fasting but about your Prayers as well.

-Enjoy these Ramadan Nights, because you will dearly miss them. I promise you.

-Take full advantage of ALL of these days, but ESPECIALLY the last 10 days. I cannot express, how important this is ❤

-Be humble, Be nice, Be generous.

-Help the need in anyway that you can. Nothing ever goes unnoticed from Him.

-Host an Iftar!

-Don’t forget to prepare for Eid! Yes ladies, with all of this add this as well. Prepare your Eid decor (my personal fav) outfits, your gathering, where you will go for Eid prayer. It is well deserved Inshallah!

-And lastly, be happy and thankful that you have made it to and through Ramadan 2016 with health and happiness. And ALWAYS pray you live to see the next with all of your loved ones. Ameen.

See ladies, that wasn’t so complicated now was it? Like I said, very basic. I pray you all have a beautiful month of Ramadan. May Allah accept all of our fasts, duas, prayers and every act of worship in this month. And may we live to see the next with all of our loved ones with good health and happiness Inshallah, Ameen. Please remember me in your duas as well ❤ ❤ ❤

Love you all,

Nelo .A.
