Athens, Greece Pt.1

Honeymoon Series:

Athens, Greece

Locations Visited:

Acropolis, Parthenon, Theater of Dionysos, Hadrian’s Arch, Temple of Zeus, Plaka

Weather: Extremely hot, scorching sun, had to stay hydrated. Evening became bearable.

First off, I am so flattered how many of you are appreciating this mini series! I’m just trying to do my best in giving pointers to traveling to different countries without panicking (that’s literally the best way I can describe it). Ladies, I cannot express how EXCITED I was to traveling to Greece…here’s a little background information about me. I was always very fond of World History growing up. I was an Art student in College, studied alot about the “Ancient” times, and LOVED my Art History classes. To me, this location was a dream come true…out of the books! The amount of excitement I had traveling to Athens (and Rome) were just out of this world. You know, when your growing up and learn about these places you dream of visiting one day (not knowing if you really ever will) but when you do, it’s a feeling of thankfulness of how God can make things work in mysterious ways Alhamdulilah (Thank God). My mysterious way was/is  my husband ❤ thank you for making my dreams come true, not just here but always.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh… ATHENS! Oh my goodness, this place was AH-MAZING. Like I said earlier, I read and dreamt of coming here and I did, I knew all the history of every single place, literally. I definitely made an itinerary for 2 days in Athens, because one day would NOT have worked. Well, we arrived a little later than our actual arrival time because our flight was delayed 3 times in Bulgaria due to weather conditions. So it was probably around 10-11pm that we arrived to our AirBNB, settled-in, we were starving so went out and found a cute corner cafe “Repeat Canteen”, and must I say…HIGHLY recommended if you go. We had a fresh oven-baked pizza and some yummy pastries. We then headed back, had a good nights sleep and next morning it was adventure time! This is when our honeymoon became “action packed adventure”. Breakfast was again at, Repeat Canteen, I finally had a delicious espresso (I hate coffee) but this was something else…I had 2 of them. Yup. That was my go-to drink in Greece…”Freddo Espresso”. I have asked Starbucks here and they look at me like “huh” so if any of you know the name or what I can get similar here PLEASE share.

We were then off to our first location of the day: “Acropolis”. Majority of the historical locations were here. Also related to as the “High City”, a huge hill looking over the city this is also the home of the famous “Parthenon”. The Acropolis is the authentic symbol of Greek Civilization (going back to the Neolithic Period) with its most important main structures: The Parthenon, The Propylaea, The Erechtheum and The Temple of Athena. Standing at the top of this high hill, you can see almost all of Athens, and remaining sites of Greek mythology. I was overly excited to get this day started, so we walked up through the “Beule Gate” (we did have to purchase tickets to enter) and then there was more walking towards the top of the Acropolis. Today was the day that we officially became sun burnt…we forgot to apply sunscreen when leaving and now it was just too late. In the photos you can see how near the sun was, literally in our faces. We both dressed accordingly to what I read about the weather, HOT. But hey, it was ALL worth it.

We took our time getting to the top, because we were both so fascinated by the architecture and this is where we came across the “Theater of Dionysos” also known as the birth place of European theater (how cool). The Greeks would hold rituals for the God Dionysos but now unfortunately the theater has become very old, so it has limited performances, while we were there they were preparing for an orchestra. It was beautiful to see. As we began to make our way to the top of the Acropolis, it was peak time of “tourist traffic”. I think this was the most difficult place to take pictures, it took us plenty of tries to get a few good shots ( P.S. this is when my husband started getting annoyed of me LOL). Now since this is a very old location, there were some handles made to hold on to and ramps on top of cracks and holes for the safety of the tourists it was still a little dangerous but the security did a great job of monitoring everyone so two thumbs up there!

And finally we were at the top of the Acropolis and like a kid in a candy store I stood there, looked around and spotted my eye candy…the Parthenon. My smile, if it could stretch off of my face in that moment I’m sure it would have, yeah THAT’S how happy I was. It was so beautiful, so historic, so real. This was the worlds most ancient surviving structure of Ancient Greece, let that sink in. Built for the Goddess Athena, this structure has gone through many places of worship- a fortress, a mosque and a church. I had a final on this image, and I remembered every little detail I had written on my 5 page essay (known by heart) on this piece. And I was there, standing right in front of it, knowing every details of the columns, representation, and so much more. Ladies, I’m literally pouring my heart out here haha.

My husband was standing next to me, and saw all those expressions on my face and was like “wow, this meant THAT much to you?” Yeah husband, it did. I think the entire time we were up there, I kept turning around to him and saying “thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing me here” and just smiled back and said “I’ve learned so much from you, you have so much knowledge of all these places”. Now that was the cherry on top <3. I promise ladies, I am trying to make this post VERY to the point because if I sit here and go into details, trust me it’ll end up being a book. We then explored around, took our time reading, took many photos, bumped into so many different kinds of people from around the world. Acropolis was done and checked off the list, and we began to head towards “Hadrian’s Arch” and the “Temple of Zeus” they were literally right next to eachother.

Hadrian’s Arch was a quick stop because it was a huge Arch on the road way, which basically divided “Old Athens” and “New Athens”. With that checked off, we made our way to the temple. Now this was the largest temple in Ancient Greece, bigger than the Parthenon. The temple used to have statues inside, but due to time they became ruined. One huge pillar is on the floor, it was mentioned of an earthquake had ruined the temple. By this time, the crowd had become less and we just sat down and took a break watching the sun getting ready to set and have its rays on the temple. The weather had become a liiiiiittttllleeee bit cooler than what we were going through. After a good half and hour of relaxing, we made our way to find some food and that was towards “Plaka”.

Plaka, as I read would be one the most “enchanting places in Athens” and you know what? It lived up to that sentence. This was a village within a city. Narrow streets filled with beautiful homes turned into strips of cafes, restaurants, live entertainment and loads of shops for shopping. It was extremely busy, but I loved the vibe. Each restaurant/cafe had their menu listed outside, we read through them and noticed majority of the menus were the same so we just picked a romantic restaurant and sat outside. The vibes of this place was so beautiful, we had a live violinist, candle lit dinner, delicious foods (we tried the Greek speciality which were stuffed tomatoes) and drinks. I must say, everyone was SO welcoming and kind, positive vibes everywhere that I felt like a true honored guest ❤

After having a beautiful dinner experience, we just explored around Plaka. Of course I had to get myself some souvenirs, so we shopped around.  As we were walking around, I saw so many people with this interesting looking ice cream and those who know me know I LOVE ice cream. We then came across a long line, and guess what it was? The cool looking ice cream! I forgot the flavor I got, but oh my goodness it was SO delicious. I obviously didn’t want to share so made my husband get me my own :-). The remaining of the night we just enjoyed in Plaka, the weather became lovely and Athens was extremely lit at night. And that ladies, concludes part 1 in Greece. Stay tuned for my next post because it’ll take your BREATH away! Trust me ❤

Much Love,

Nelo .A.

Lee & Zee Apparel- Eid Collaboration

Lee & Zee Apparel- Eid-Al-Fitr 2018 Collaboration

First and foremost, Ramadan Mubarakladies! I pray and hope this Ramadan is going well for everyone, with positivity and happiness Inshallah (God Willing). And we all know what we prepare for after Ramadan right…Eid! Ramadan always flies by extremely fast, and next thing we know its time to prepare for Eid ❤ What’s more exciting than preparing your Eid oufit right? #girlthings.

This time, I had the honor and collaborated with a new Modest clothing boutique named “Lee & Zee Apparel”. From Abayas, to long-sleeved non-see-through shirts (every Hijabis dream), chic dresses, AND magnetic Hijab pins (yes you read that right!) they’ve got it all! Every collection on their website is VERY Hijab friendly and some pieces that are beyond elegant such as their most famous, the “Open Lace Abaya” in two of my favorite colors “Black”and “Mauve”.

The Abaya is made out of soft fabric, that drapes so elegantly once worn. Ladies, the best part of this Abaya is you can style and wear it with literally ANYTHING. How I styled this look, is with a simple black turtle neck and black tights, and pop of nude with my jersey Hijab-Turban and heels. I personally felt, these tones balanced the look very elegantly, not too much and not too less for an Eid look. The lace design on the Abaya is so intricate, that to keep a simple under garment is very important, otherwise ladies…you’ll be in trouble :-).

The other look I had in mind was a long black maxi until my ankles, a nude Hijab and heels. And lastly, this Abaya can be worn openly like a long gown, and have an “all white” look would definitely make a statement as well. Have your pick! But hey, if you want to be extra… go for it 😉 Nothing wrong with being a teeeenie bit extra on Eid.

I already know you ladies are oohing and aahing over all this information, so for further details and information please head on over to their website, http://www.leeandzeeapparel.com and follow their Instagram page @LeeAndZeeApparel.

Lastly, 15% of their profit goes to Palestine during this beautiful month of Ramadan ❤ We all must support one another, help each other grow in our dreams and goals, and not let each other down.

Here’s how I styled this beautiful Abaya, do let me know what you ladies think! Happy-Eid-Shopping lovelies!

Much love,

Nelo .A.

Neutrals & Pearls

Happy Friday Ladies!

My, oh my! I know my last blog post was my “Eid Looks”, and I did not post after that in which I apologize dearly! But if you follow me on Instagram (@fashion.with.nelo) I have been active there…(I know, that’s not an excuse). But I am here now, and back with another…COLLABORATION!

From the title, you ladies guessed it...”Neutrals & Pearls”. Okay, honestly this look was SO difficult for me to handle, because I cannot pull of neutrals *tear*. No matter HOW much I have tried, I just cannot! Some tips ladies?! Nothing wrong in learning some neutral tone tips ahhhhh. Even though during this photo-shoot I did get compliments BUT still (oh the things I do for you ladies ❤ ).

Re-introducing the one and only…The Hijab Souq ❤ Do I really have to tell you ladies (again) on how GREAT their Hijabs are?! Mashallah. The Hijab I am wearing here is the “Beige Pearl Hijab”. This is probably the most Summer friendly Hijab I own, literally. A very breathable-light-weight-cotton fabric, with hand-beaded single pearls attached all along the width of the Hijab.

I always like to keep my Hijab styles very simple, but elegant and thats exactly what I did here. I thought to myself “how can I really show these pearls, but in a different way?” Voila! Looks like a side braid doesn’t it?! I cannot tell you ladies how much I adore it (I love how I’m complimenting myself). But the secret is…it’s not a braid! And guess what…if you ladies REALLY like this Hijab look, I can do my first “official” Hijab tutorial woohoo! Just comment below.

As for my outfit, I did not want to take any attention away from the Hijab so I did a simple white button down top from H&M, gaucho pants from H&M, nude heels from Charlotte Russe, Chanel handbag from Chanel and some of my basic accessories.

And that’s a wrap my loves ❤ Feel free to comment below. To get your own Pearl Hijab and many other Hijabs visit, http://www.thehijabsouq.com

Much, Much Love ❤

Eid Look #2

EID Al-Fitr 2016 Look #2

Happy Monday Ladies!

Hoping all of you enjoyed your lovely weekend! I defiantly did…with all of these amazing Iftar gatherings (plus the millions pounds I have added). Let’s hope I fit into my Eid clothes, which by the way I have not made yet…whoops! Thank you all for the love on my first Eid Look, so happy you all loved it ❤

Eid Look #2 is my collaboration with The Hijab Vault ❤ I honestly am OBSESSED with all of their Hijabs Mashallah. I think I have always expressed my love and appreciation for these Hijabs, because they really ARE that praise worthy ❤ The hijab I am wearing here is the “One-Edged Pearl & Chain”.  A very elegant and light weight Hijab, perfect for the Summer. This Hijab comes in beautiful summer shades such as purple, blush, blues, nudes, and pinks. This Hijab line is exclusively for Ramadan and Eid, so ladies be sure to get yours before they are sold out! And trust me…they are going fast.

Again, I am sticking to all neutral tones, so this Hijab was perfect for this look.  I did a simple, side drape for the one edge of the pearls to show. I am wearing a floral cape top (sadly, the wind was not cooperating with me, but the sleeves are of cape design). I paired it with black tights, and a nice pair of black Kitten Heels which are a life saver when you’re a oldie like myself (lol).

For the accessories, I felt the florals were already so much so I just did some bangles, one ring, and ofcourse my favorite Chanel bag ❤ ❤ ❤ And lastly, for my lip color I did a pop of pink! Well, what do you ladies think? I would love to hear feed back! Make sure you follow me on Instagram as well (@fashion.with.nelo) and my FB page (FashionWithNelo) ❤

Last and final Eid look will be up in a few days! Stay tuned mi amours!

Coral & Lace

Hello Hello!

I don’t know if I should say “Happy Spring” or not because this weather is totally out of its control! We have had amazing, Spring days and then it goes right back into Winter…weird? I think so. But hey! I am not complaining at all ❤ The first day of Spring here…it was about less than 30 degrees, ahaha see my point?

But this weather won’t stop me from wearing nice Spring outfits, or atleast I have been trying to… 😦 So I had a huge issue of not finding my USB cord for my Canon (that’s what I am uploading this F.F.F late). And my laptop is a “vintage” MacBook… so it does not have that USB insert on the side like all you high-tech peeps :-/

So I had to use my sisters laptop, email ALL these pictures to myself, edit them and oh let’s not forget my crazy work schedule… now I am finally posting a week later…how exciting? Hey, better late than never right? The things I do for you all ❤

This is a very Spring inspire look, Coral and Lace will never go out of style (especially lace) I think this look is a very elegant combination. I hope you ladies find it the same as well ❤

Here is this (last weeks) F.F.F.

Mint Green & Polka-Dots

Happy Friday
I know, I know… this post is a bit late. But there are still 15 minutes left until Friday is over! I am going to keep this short and sweet ❤ I have been receiving emails/messages about “business attire with the Hijab” aka scarf for work and interviews.
Many of you have been asking for styling tips such as Hijab (scarf) tips and  jewelry on how to balance the entire “business” look. I will be doing another post for a “business” attire look with the Hijab. In which I will list the “do’s” and “don’ts” in my point of view.
Here is something I bought recently for work, and thought this is good for a chic business attire. I kept this look very simple, due to the colors and the polka-dot printed pants.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Fashion Finds:
Mint Green Blazer: Charlotte Russe. Original price $34.99 on sale for $9.99. This is a very light weight cotton fabric blazer which is amazing for the hot summer we will be having. You can wear a simple tank-top underneath and not worry about your arms showing. It also has a scrunching detail on the sleeves.
High-waisted Polka-Dot pants: JC Penny. Orignal price $44.99 on sale for $10.99. I know what you ladies are thinking, “ew…JC Penny?” I am telling you, you will be very surprised what you can come across while shopping here. These pants are very comfortable, and I have always received numerous compliments on them.

Summer Florals

Happy Friday Ladies!

I want to apologize for not posting a F.F.F last week, due to the schedule of Ramadan (post is up on the explanation of Ramadan) I got caught up with other things so I did not have time to upload a post. Many of you were very concerned (anyone would be when it comes to shopping) BUT! I am back on track, and here is a very different look compared to the others I have posted.

Fashion Finds:

Long Floral Elastic Gathered Waist Buttoned Up Dress: H&M. Original price $34.95, on sale for $15! Ahh, must I always explain how much I LOVE H&M! This dress is very flowy, light chiffon fabric, and a beautiful floral print for the Summer. What I do is, I wear black tights underneath and leave a couple of buttons opened up until the mid-thigh area so my sandals can be shown 😉

Light Brown Gladiator Zip-Up Sandals: Burlington. Original price $24.99. Finding these sandals took me a while, literally. Some sandals look very cute, but once you put them on especially gladiators they are not tight enough to stand up or either slip down. These are the perfect pair! Even though there were black ones, this color stood out the most and works with many outfits as well.

Cream Clutch: H&M. Original price $24.95, on sale for $10. It also has a strap, or you can just hold it like a clutch.

Single Knot Gold Turban Headband: Burlington. Original price $3.99 on sale for $0.98! They have a variety of cute headbands and you honestly just have to get lucky to find a good one!

Gold Chained Long-Feathered Earrings: ICING. Original price $6.99, on sale for $1.99. Came in a pack of 3 (small stud earrings and these ones). Ok, so I know many of you are like “What? ICING?” It was closing in a mall here, and EVERYTHING was on sale. I just walked in to see, I needed those plastic ring-adjustment tighteners (I forgot the name fasting right now haha). And ended up getting this, not a bad decision.

Rusty Gold Ring: I honestly do not remember where I purchased this, but styled it with this look!

These finds are amazing, the main reason why I always post where I purchase them from is so you all can get a similar look and get some inspiration!

I hope you liked this calm, summer-flow look ❤
Do not forget to leave feedback, as I enjoy reading them. Enjoy mi amores, have a wonderful weekend!

FRI.YAY.

Happy Friday Fashionistas ❤

My goodness, I do not know about you but I am so glad its Friday. Obviously Friday is everyones favorite day of the week, because you just know that even if you have had a tiring week with loads of work, stress, anything! Friday is the day to relax a bit, breathe and then continue what you need to do afterwards. With that said, lets jump into this weeks F.F.F!

This look is very street style, but with a hint of culture with it to pop the whole look out and keep a balance. I always love mixing different cultures into fashion, that’s what makes it a style. This fashion find is definitely a “FRI.YAY” look. Basically meaning (in my world) to be care-free, relaxed, breathing, and enjoying the day or night until we get busy again.

Fashion Finds:

High-low black and white crop top: Forever 21. Original price $19.80. I love how they chose black and white in one look, you can mix and match about anything with this top!

Black Tights: Forever 21. Original price $3.80. If you have not purchased a pair of tights/leggings from Forever 21, I highly suggest you do so. 1) they are for $3.80, 2) they have many colors, 3) very comfortable to wear and 4) Did I mention they are $3.80?

Royal Blue chained purse: PAYLESS. Original $24.99 on sale for $5.99. So this purchase was a total mistake (said no girl ever). I actually had just walked in to see some comfortable pair of flip flops (which I later found else where) and while walking out I saw this! I love the fabric, its a soft, light weight velvet fabric. The chain is very heavy, and barely looks like a PAYLESS item. Never knew they had things like this… There was also a black one same price 😉 (hint hint)

Sunglasses: Forever 21. Original price $9.80 on sale for $1.99! The prices speak for themselves…

Silver Black Pendant Ring: This was purchased from a street market in Saudi Arabia, the cute old man had many designs, but this caught my eye. He was selling it for 4 Riyals ($1.07). Its a very heavy metal, nicely cut and structured. Keynote here, this man was making his income off of these small items, priced very, very low. I bought many more items as well, and also to help him out because he deserved it. Always be thankful<3

Earrings: Forever 21. Orignal price $3.80. Very light weight and very comfortable to wear.

Heavy Metal Hand cuffs: These are actual antique pieces gifted to me. Authentic designs  all the way from Afghanistan. Today you can find similar ones (not real though) in Forever 21, CR, TOPSHOP, and Urban Outfitters.

Royal Blue Velveteen Shoes: Charlotte Russe. Orignal price $34.99, on sale for $9.99. As you all already know, I literally have many pairs of shoes from CR because they are worth the purchase.

What do you ladies think of this Friday’s finds? Leave your comments below! If you ladies need any styling tips for specific events feel free to ask, that’s why I’m here ❤

Enjoy your weekend ❤
